FAVORITE DESTINATION:
Wow this is a tough one! I love to travel and seriously cannot get enough. South Africa, New Zealand, and Hawaii have had lasting impacts on me with their wild, awe-inspiring natural beauty.
WHAT DOES ADVENTURE MEAN TO YOU?:
To me, adventuring is not just a thing you do, it’s a soulful experience. It’s all about connecting with nature, seeing or experiencing something new, being in the moment, and having fun. To adventure is to connect deeply with the natural world through the senses, experience the unknown, and feel fully alive.
WHEN SEEKING ADVENTURE, WHAT’S THE FIRST THING YOU DO?:
Since adventure is synonymous with nature for me, the first thing I do when craving some adventure is go outside. A quick adventure would be to head to the closest body of water or into the woods.
THREE THINGS YOU CAN’T TRAVEL WITHOUT:
An inflatable paddle board, essential oils and my camera.
HOW YOU GOT STARTED SUP Yoga:
I fell in love with paddle boarding in 2012 while living in Hawaii, completing my yoga trainings. My passion for nature, teaching yoga, and the Ocean led me to complete several SUP yoga teacher training certifications throughout the years, including my SUP teacher certification by the World Paddle Association.
Paddle board yoga is not merely practicing yoga poses on an anchored board, it’s a transcendent experience that brings an individual into a state of mindfulness and connection. SUP Yoga is about learning how to interpret conditions; understanding the wind and the tides and connecting with nature. Once you learn to read the water, then you begin flow with it.
TIPS FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO START SUP Yoga:
Take at least one lesson with someone who is both a certified SUP instructor and a certified yoga teacher. This will give you all of the tools you need to feel safe, comfortable and empowered on the water.
FAVORITE SNACK TO FUEL WITH:
Fruit! Smoothies are my go to energy snack/meal, but fruit in general is amazing. I especially love watermelon in the summer. It has a high water content and is rich in electrolytes, making it extremely hydrating. It’s also packed full of vitamin c, potassium, and other important micronutrients as well as antioxidants, helping protect the body from the elements.
